No better Harley Davidson ride than between Wawa and Sault; 4th ...

Hal Wright would be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful stretch of road than Highway 17 between Sault Ste. Marie and Wawa.

Even after 40 years of regularly travelling between the two communities, Wright still finds plenty to savour.

When he's riding his Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic and helping out a good cause, the experience is even better.

"You can't get any better scenery than this," said Wright Saturday before the start of the fourth annual Phoenix Rising Run. .

Harley-Davidson Dealerships Across the US Host Garage Parties for ...

Harley-Davidson is opening the metaphorical garage door to thousands of women interested in motorcycling. Over the past decade, women have increasingly embraced the sport of motorcycling -- seeking the freedom and empowerment associated with riding solo on the open road. Women represent 10% of the U.S. motorcycle population, and nearly 12% of new Harley-Davidson purchasers are women. The Garage Party events are one way that Harley-Davidson reaches out to women to encourage them to learn more about motorcycling.

In 2006, Harley-Davidson piloted the Garage Party concept with its dealer network, and the response was so successful that the Company updated the program and recently launched a new section on the Women & Motorcycling Web site, http://www.harley-davidson.com/womenriders, devoted to Garage Parties and upcoming women's events.

Harley surges on Honda talk; skeptics abound

(HOG.N: Quote, Profile, Research) surged on Friday amid speculation Honda Motor Co. Ltd. (7267.T: Quote, Profile, Research) was looking to buy the U.S. motorcycle maker.

A spokesman for Harley-Davidson declined to comment on the talk and a call requesting comment from the U.S. unit of Honda was not immediately returned.

"We don't typically comment on market speculation or on day to day market activity," said Bob Klein, a spokesman at Milwaukee-based Harley.

Several analysts, however, characterized the talk as far- fetched and suspiciously timed.

Tim Conder, an analyst at A.G. Edwards, said he believed the rumor was "false based on several factors," not the least of which was a combined company would control nearly 60 percent of the U.S.

2007 Harley-Davidson XL 883 Sportster

I'll never forget my first time on a Sportster. It was in Gulfport, Mississippi, the summer of '89. A 6-foot 1-inch tall redhead named "Mama Cass" who I worked with at a beachfront restaurant facing the Gulf of Mexico asked me if I wanted to go to the All Harley Memorial Day Blowout with her. On her bike no less. Which is good because I didn't have one at the time. My riding experience included learning to ride on my friend Paul's 1984 Honda Ascot 500 and a few spins on a Rebel. I was stoked at the chance to mount her Sportster. To me, I was moving up into the big leagues.

I met Mama Cass at her house that afternoon so we could ride over to the Gulfport Dragway. She had an 883 that had been bored-out to a little over 900cc with a chopped-out front end and custom bars. She gave the root-beer-brown bike a few kicks in her garage but it only flooded out and filled the space with gas fumes.

Tears for inspirational 'Mr Harley-Davidson'

The bright orange and black Harley-Davidson flags at the Sandton dealership flew at half mast, bearing silent testimony to the death of a hero. Inside Brian Wegerle's dealership, friends and staff consoled each other with passionate embraces and tear-filled eyes as news of his death spread. Wegerle was known as Mr Harley-Davidson and was said to be responsible for creating a cult following of Harley-Davidson enthusiasts in South Africa. Wegerle was killed in a horror crash on Wednesday. He was heading to his Bryanston home on his favourite blue Street Glide Harley when he was hit by a one-ton van which veered across the centre island and squashed him against a bakkie on the N1 South. .

Harley-Davidson to build carving trikes

June 16, 2007 We've always been excited about the prospects for three wheeled conveyances. Way back in September 2006, (which seems like ancient history in internet years), Lehman Trikes and Harley-Davidson announced that they had entered into an agreement for the development of three-wheeled machines based on Harley motorcycle product and sold as Harley-Davidson branded vehicles through authorized Harley-Davidson dealers. Given that Lehman has been making a range of turnkey Harley trikes, conversion kits and accessories for 20 years, with two wheels at the back and a motorcycle front-end, the announcement didnt get a lot of attention. A recent patent filing by Harley makes the whole story suddenly much more exciting. It appears that Harley isnt far from releasing a stunning new carving model based on similar existing machines as the Piaggio MP3, Electric Vectrix, Brudelli Leanster and Mercedes-Benz F 300 Life-Jet and previously published concepts such as Heikki Naulapaas Aprilia Magnet, Dimitrios Scoutas' Skipee and Tommy Forsgrens Hermes three wheeled vehicles with the power-to-weight ratio of an elite sports car and the cornering dynamics of a motorcycle.

Harley-Davidson's three-wheeled HOG

When the old, conservative Harley-Davidson Inc. (NYSE: HOG) set out to build a three-wheeled version of the iconic American motorcycle, they would have followed the standard, two-rear, one-front wheel design. Judging from their recently filed patent application, though, the company is showing a new boldness by setting off in a different, cutting-edge direction with a cool two-front, one-rear wheel, high performance design.

Last fall, the company announced an agreement with Lehman Trikes U.S.A. to cooperatively develop a three-wheeled motorcycle. For many years, Lehman has been the industry leader in converting motorcycles such as Harleys and Honda's Gold Wing to three-wheelers. The manufacturers have not been particularly supportive, though. Those who also manufacture all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), such as Honda (NYSE: HMC), are still gun-shy of the configuration in the aftermath of the 3-wheel ATV controversy, in which the industry was forced to accept a consent decree to discontinue building what proved to be an unstable 3-wheeled design.

Harley Davidson masterpieces on display in Konya

A life style, a way of life, a belief in freedom, a rebellious point of view, a charismatic brand, Harley Davidson has always been admired by many people. Based in Wisconsin, United States, Harley Davidson is a mass producer of motorcycles.

On Monday, 16 Harley Davidson motorcycles, manufactured between 1918 and 1984, were brought from the Harley Davidson Museum in Austria to be exhibited at a shopping mall in the central Turkish city of Konya.

Will Harley and his boyhood friend Arthur Davidson founded the brand in 1903, and they improved the motorcycles with the help of their buddies. It became legendary in a short period of time.

Among the motorcycles exhibited, a classical model of Harley, the 89-year-old "Indian," which is also known as the "big brother of red Harley motorcycles" or the "Rolls-Royce of the motorbikes," arouses the interest of visitors.
